Tic-tac-toe a.k.a noughts and crosses or X n Os started out as a pencil-and-paper game for two players, but nowadays you have the game on just about any mobile phones and lot of them look the same and the UI is nothing special. But all that is about to change with XiMAD’s take on the classic. In Tic Tac Toe the players take turns marking the spaces in a 3×3 grid, usually X goes first. The player who succeeds in placing three respective marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row wins the game.

XiMAD is no stranger here, we have seen quite a few of their apps and games and today we look at another one of the XiMAD games. Best Tic Tac Toe FREE is a free in app ads-supported game from xiMAD, if you are fussy about ads they also have a paid ads free version of the game. The UI as you would expect from these folks are quite stunning and by far one of the best Tic Tac Toe game on windows phone in the Marketplace.


The only settings you have to worry about is the toggle for sound. The game is quite simple and kids will love it. The UI has a beach theme to it and the menu buttons are designed as flip-flops !!! You can choose single player or 2 player mode. In single player you play against the AI which according to the developers description is a self-learning AI that is hard to beat as it learns from yours and its own mistakes, but from the little time I had with the game I didn’t find the AI to be learning much from its mistakes. You can also play against another player on the same device. If the game could allow multiplayer via WiFi or Bluetooth it would have been awesome. Apart from the 3×3 grid the game also offers a 6×6 grid which adds a whole new level of difficulty and in this mode you have to get 4 in a row to win the game.


To conclude the game is a great game for kids and as a free game this game is definitely worth the try. The way I see it I don’t minds a few ads in the app if the ads don’t interfere with the gameplay. The gameplay itself is quite simple and you will get over it after a while but if you have kids they might love the game and play it over and over. The ads free version is available for $0.99 and according to the developer the only difference is the ads in the free version, both the game has the same functionality.
